Overview & History
The Deptartment of Home Science was established in the year 1981 in Women's College Khordha headed by Mrs.Tarulata Limma with the creation of intermediate ate in Arts. This was converted in to +2 Arts during the section in 1983-84 the department was upgraded in to Bachelor degree during the section 1987-88. Home Science was opened during the section 2004-05 & currently the dept. runs with UG programmes (Hons. & Elec.) +2 Classes.
The current Strength of the dept. in UG Hons. is 72 (24 each in 1st, 2st & 3rd year) respectively. The performance of the students in every years outstanding.
It is a fully aided college situated in the nearest of Khordha town. Students from different rural & urban areas are admitted in to the college. The dept. of Home Science is having one seminar library with good no. of up-to-date publications of Home Science books. Students are provided with different types of teaching aids such as text books, reference books, Magazine for their up-dation of knowledge & better performance.
The dept. organies different seminars, Skill development programmes, workshops & different competitions among the students in each year Besides these the dept. also performs welcome ceremony, farewell ceremony, Ganesh puja , Saraswati puja & teacher's day in the department.
