The department of History is one of the oldest academic department of Women's College, Khordha which was introduced in 1981 along with the foundation of the college. In 1987 under Utkal University, Vanivihar. History subject was introduced as pass and elective papers in graduation level. Honours teaching was introduced in 2016 under Ramadevi Women's University, Vidyavihar, Bhubaneswar with 16 seats. Presently in graduation level the department has 16 seats in each year as Hons and 48 seats as Generic Elective.

Departmental Works

1. 3rd Dec. 2022 – The students of History Hons moved for a field study to Ansupa lake, Kapilash temple. Jorandha Pitha of Mahima dharma, Banki charchika temple with all the faculties.
2. Published a paper on tribes by Dept. H.O.D, Smt. Kabita Kumari Swain in a national level book, new Delhi.
3. Published two articles in different daily newspaper by H.O.D, Smt. Kabita Kumar Swain.
4. Inspire of Academic works H.O.D of department is attached with the following extra-curricular activities
   1. Teacher representative in Governing Body
   2. Works as administrative Bursar.
   3. Works as a member in budget committee & prospectus committee.
   4. Works as secretary, staff council, member of NAAC committee, member of college foundation day, member of construction & purchase committee, disciplinary committee, Prof. I/c of time-table, co-ordinator of student’s grievance cell.
   5. Works as chief examiner, examining chief in +2 & +3 wings, in different colleges under CHSE & Ramadevi Women’s University.
