Womens College, Khordha, the brain child of eminent Personalities like Dr. Kaliprasad Mangaraj, Sj. Jyotirindra Nath Mitra (Honble M.L.A., Khordha), Sj. Bankim Chandra Mohanty (Advocate), Sj. Rabinarayan Burma, Maj. Khirod Prasad Mohanty, Late Bidyut Prava Burma, Late William Naik, Late Ramabati Devi, Late Chintamani Panigrahi, Sri Narendra Kumar Mishra initially started functioning in the premises of local Govt. Girls High School, Khordha in the year 1981.

The foundation stone of the College building was laid on 14.01.86 by Dr. Kaliprasad Mangaraj, the Founder Secretary of the College.The college opened with the subjects of English, M.I.L.(Odia), Political Science, History, Odia (Optional), Home Science, Psychology and Economics and about 128 students took admission in the very opening session. The college received Govt. concurrence and University affiliation in the year 1983. The intermediate in Arts classes converted into +2 Arts college during the session 1983-84. The strenuous effort of the local People, generous donation of different sources, academic interest of many social workers and intelligentsia made the institution see the light of the world in the Session 1989 inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Odisha Late Janaki Ballav Pattanaik.

The College steps into Bachelor Degree in Humanties during the session 1989-90. Honours teaching facilities began in Odia and Education with16 seats each from the session 1994-95. Further seats for +2 Arts extended from 128 to 256 during the session 2002-03. Honours subjects like Home Science and Psychology opened during session 2004-05. The college started imparting teaching in Indian Music with 32 students during 2005-06 and Commerce in +2 level opened during the 2009-10 session.

Further seats +3 Arts were extended from 128 to 144 during the session 2015 -16 . (dtd.26.09.15 Letter No. RDE13695). Seats for Honours subjects like Odia, Education, Home Science, Psychology were extended from 16 to 24 during the session 2016-17 and Economics(pass) with 64 seats. Economics(pass) seats extended from64 to 96. History and Economics Honours opened during the session 2016-17 with 16 seats each. Honours in Political Science opened in 2018-19.

This Institution has now acquired a massive structure with all the faculities at their flowering best, possessing an agreeable academic atmosphere. It has a dedicated teaching staff, one competent Principal, a considerable G.B. andnearly 1200 good study minded pupils. Besides, the infrastructural development of the college it became possible upto this level due to release of grants from U.G.C., M.L.A. and M.P. Lad funds. During Xth plan period, U.G.C. has approved the construction of library building and Womens hostel. After the inspection of NAAC team the college has been awarded Grade-B in the year 2006.

Womens College, Khordha, the only Womens College in the district head quarters, in its march of gaining laurels, it sincerely seeks the good will and help of its well wishers and sympathisers. Further, the institution hopes to open new faculties and Honours classes in other subjects in near future.
